The Department of Resource Management is a comprehensive agency comprised of the Public Works, Building and Safety, Planning Services, Environmental Health Services, Parks, and Administrative Services Divisions. The department provides for the well-being of Solano County's present and future residents and the public at-large through administration and enforcement of Federal, State, and Local laws and policies pertaining to transportation, building construction, land use planning environmental health, and recreation.

The Parks & Recreation Division of the Department of Resource Management is the steward of Solano County's natural and cultural resources.  The Division creates safe environments and showcases the County's facilities in order for visitors to enjoy diverse recreational experiences.The Resource Management Parks and Recreation Division is seeking Park Aides to work at either the Lake Solano near Winters or the Sandy Beach in Rio Vista.  The eligible list will be used to fill vacancies at both Parks. Duties are performed under close supervision, which consist of a variety of routine clerical and/or manual labor tasks, including working in the park office and outdoors.

The Position

This recruitment is intended to fill Park Aides (Extra-Help) positions. Under close supervision, performs a variety of routine clerical and/or manual labor tasks; performs related duties as required. 

Extra-help employees do not have rights to a regular position or continued employment and are excluded from civil service. The hours worked may be part-time or full-time, but hours cannot exceed more than 999 hours in a fiscal year.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience and Education/Training: No experience required.

Special Requirements: Applicants under 18 years of age will be required to secure a work permit before being employed.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES PARK MAINTENANCE: Mows lawns using push or rider mower; collects litter in campgrounds and picnic areas; collects fees at the gate or at each campsite and makes change; cleans restrooms; maintains roads, trails and walks using shovels, rakes and brooms.

BENEFITS

Extra-help employees who work less than 29 hours per week do not typically receive or accrue benefits of regular employees during their period of employment. All extra-help employees accrue .034 hours of Paid Time Off for every full hour worked.

Selection Process

2/24/2017 – 5:00pm Deadline to submit application and required documents for first application review.

Based on the information provided in the application documents, the qualified applicants will be invited for further examination and will either be pre-scheduled by the Department of Human Resources or be invited to self-schedule. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Depending upon the number of applications received, the selection process may consist of an initial application screening, a mandatory information meeting, a written and/or practical exam, an oral board exam, or any combination listed.
