APPOINTMENT TYPE: Reassignment or Permanent Transfer.  In order to be considered for appointment to this position, you must have current permanent status as a 1244 Senior Personnel Analyst with the City and County of San Francisco and be seeking either a Transfer or a Reassignment.  If you do not meet this criterion, please do not apply for this position.



Under the direction of the Workers’ Compensation Manager, the Senior Personnel Analyst performs technical work in the administration of the Transitional Work Program and thereby serves in an important resource capacity.  Essential functions include: serves as the Transitional Work Program Coordinator; develops and maintains a job bank of temporary transitional work assignments; assigns transitional work employee to light duty jobs; tracks transitional work employee job duration; records daily and weekly timesheets for transitional work employees; manages the Access Database of transitional work program statistics; gather data for workers’ compensation purposes and prepares reports; coordinates return to work information with the Third Party Administrator (TPA) for Workers’ Compensation and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Return-to-Work Unit; coordinates activities of the transitional work program field monitor; works with Section/Unit managers and supervisors to place transitional work employee in targeted temporary work assignments; monitors and reports on participation in the Transitional Work Program; prepares a variety of memorandum, reports and records; assists in the design and provision of training for the Workers’ Compensation Section; attends departmental meetings and possibly off-site meetings with the TPA; researches and troubleshoots complex Workers’ Comp claims issues for a variety of stakeholders, including: department personnel, medical providers, legal staff, Third Party Administrator and employees; may direct and supervise subordinate employees engaged in various of personnel related duties; and performs other duties as assigned. 



Current Permanent Civil Service (PCS) incumbent in Class 1244 Senior Personnel Analyst with the City and County of San Francisco.



§  One (1) year of experience administering Workers’ Compensation processes in a human resources department.


§  Ability to navigate web-based claims management information system.

§  Current working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.

§  Strong organizational skills.

Disaster Service Workers

All City and County of San Francisco employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.


All employees hired on or after January 10, 2009 will be required (pursuant to San Francisco Charter Section A8.432) to contribute 2% of pre-tax compensation to fund retiree healthcare. In addition, most employees are required to make a member contribution towards retirement, typically a 7.5% of compensation.
