LIMITED RECRUITMENT: This is a limited recruitment and will close after the first 300 applications are submitted OR on the posted filing deadline of Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 5:00 PM, whichever comes first.
This recruitment will be used to fill both open and promotional vacancies in various County departments as they arise, subject to specific position requirements.
To perform a variety of the more specialized and responsible administrative, clerical, and document processing functions for an assigned program or project.
This is the advanced journey level class in the Administrative Clerk series. Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assigned, the complexity of duties assigned, independence of action taken, and by the nature of the public contact made. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series including performing administrative clerical duties which require specialized knowledge related to area of assignment or providing technical and functional supervision over assigned clerical staff. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.
Receives general supervision from management professional or supervisory personnel, and may receive technical and functional supervision from higher level clerical staff.
May exercise technical and functional supervision over clerical personnel.

Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible clerical experience.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

The written examination is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, March 29, 2017. There are two locations to take the written examination, which include:
NOTE: In the event of inclement weather, the exam scheduled for the Truckee area may be rescheduled. Applicants will be notified via email if the exam is rescheduled.
There will not be alternative or make-up exam date(s) scheduled. The supplemental questionnaire for this recruitment will allow applicants to select their preferred testing location. You will be notified of your scheduled examination date, time, and location after the posted filing deadline.
The written examination may include multiple choice, true/false, fill-in, matching, and/or essay type questions directly related to the required knowledge and abilities for this classification.
All applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be required to respond to an online Conviction History Questionnaire, which will be sent as a link on their notification that minimum qualifications have been met. Failure to respond to this questionnaire within (3) three calendar days of the minimum qualification notification will result in disqualification from the examination.
Prior to the date of hire, applicants must undergo a fingerprint test by the Department of Justice, pass a medical examination, which may include a drug screening and possibly a psychological evaluation, sign a constitutional oath and submit proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to remain and work in the U.S. For some positions, applicants may also be required to submit proof of age, undergo a background investigation and/or be bonded.
All new permanent employees, with the exception of sworn law enforcement and those in management and confidential groups, shall be required to join the employee organization or pay an 'Agency Fee' as a condition of employment.
The eligible list(s) resulting from this recruitment may be certified as a substitute list for a substantially similar classification. For this purpose, a substantially similar classification is one at a lower level in the same classification (example: entry level vs. journey) and/or a similar classification (similar work performed, similar training and experience qualifications required). If you choose not to interview for a substantially similar classification, you will remain on the eligible list for which you originally applied.
