The Clerk of the Circuit Court is seeking qualified applicants for a Recording Clerk position. This position assists customers with recording research explaining the various recording records indexes, books, records and public access computer; ensures that copies and certified copies of recording documents are provided within the same business day; administers and sorts all legal documents in recording; calculates and collects correct taxes and fees while ensuring the legal documents contain relevant information required by the Code of Virginia; reconciles cashier workstation to ensure proper accounting of funds collected for recordation and fees; issues, inspects and processes applications for marriage licenses, notary commissions and fictitious names; performs data entry/quality assurance of all deeds, deeds of trust, judgments and financing statements in the Recording Indexing System, according to the procedures outlined by the Supreme Court and the Code of Virginia; ensures all legal documents pertaining to orders, foreign judgments, IRS tax liens, Department of Taxation liens, marriage licenses, fictitious name applications, and notary public applications, among other judgment documents, are in compliance with the Code of Virginia.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma and four years of job related office experience.
Prefer an Associates Degree in related field.
