The Loudoun County Department of Community Corrections is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Pretrial Evaluator. This position is responsible for conducting interviews with incarcerated criminal defendants and evaluating their suitability for pretrial supervision. The position is also responsible for preparing reports for court, making bond recommendations, testifying in Court as needed, conducting risk assessments, and assisting indigent defendants with requests for court appointed counsel. Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and some Sundays, as scheduled.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field. Prefer six months related work experience. Ability to speak Spanish also preferred.
Position requires the ability to work in a jail setting and willingness to interview criminal defendants, some who have a history of violent behavior. Must collect urine specimens and coordinate the testing for illegal substances. VCIN certification is required or selected candidate must obtain within 90 days of employment.
Successful candidate must undergo a criminal background check. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
