The Loudoun County Department of Planning is seeking qualified applicants for a Program Assistant in the Community Planning Program. The Community Planning Program supports the Board of Supervisors in developing land use and growth management policies by conducting research and analysis, preparing policy and managing the public process. Primary responsibilities for this position include: administrative support for program activities, Comprehensive Plan Amendments and outreach, education, and strategic planning assignments; maintaining project legal files; preparing and reviewing monthly program budget; assisting with the production of accurate and timely Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, and Board Committee packets; assisting the general public, planning staff, land use development applicants, and County officials by providing general planning information and research assistance.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to function effectively as a team member; ability to communicate successfully, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with staff, officials, and general public; Possess general knowledge of principles of land use planning and/or public administration; ability to perform research for special projects; ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines; ability to plan and prioritize work well; excellent record-keeping skills; ability to exercise independent judgment on work projects to take into account relevant organization and political climates; general knowledge of organizational fiscal policies and procedures; general knowledge of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) policies and procedures; specialized knowledge of automated systems and office equipment; and be detail-oriented.
Combination of experience and education equivalent to a High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of direct job related experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat is expected.
Experience supporting large organizational initiatives, as well as experience with InDesign, General knowledge of County computer programs (GIS, LOGIS, LMIS, ADPICS, FAMIS) and/or land management systems and governmental financial systems is preferred.
