An incumbent works under the supervision of a licensed psychologist and is responsible for administering, scoring and interpreting the results of standard and complex psychological and neuropsychological tests to assist in the diagnosis, treatment planning and therapeutic treatment of individuals. An incumbent provides individual, group and/or family therapy for individuals to deal with specific issues to enable them to progress toward rehabilitation. An incumbent participates with other health care professionals as a member of a treatment team in the coordination of individual care and treatment.

• Interviews clients; administers, scores and interprets results of standard and complex psychological and vocational tests. Participates in making diagnoses; plans program of treatment and gives individual and group therapy to person with minor through major disorder.  
    
• Confers with others such as staff, state and private agencies, community service agencies, courts, schools, police and families. 
    
• Writes reports and may assist in program development.
    
• May provide individual services where needed including making home visits.
    
• May direct the work of lower level personnel.
    
• May work in a psychiatric emergency setting on a temporary or fulltime basis.
   
• May perform functions which include responsibility for a program area.
    
• May testify as an expert witness in court.

• Knowledge of mental illness, deficiency, deterioration and personality disorders.
• Knowledge of the principles and methods of administering, scoring and interpreting a wide variety of psychological and vocational test.
• Knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of clinical psychology.
• Knowledge of treatment/service planning and psychological rehabilitation methods
• Knowledge of the ethical standards guiding the field and ability to apply these within the context of practice.
• Knowledge of psychological research and statistics.
• Knowledge of the effective means of oral and written communication.
• Ability to perform difficult testing, evaluation, diagnosis and therapy.
• Ability to execute clinical interventions with individual's needs.
• Ability to engage individuals in the design of their own treatment.
• Ability to deal with a variety of people.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

1. Registered as a Delaware Psychological Assistant or eligible for registration in Delaware.
