Summary Statement

A class incumbent is responsible for the administrative supervision of behavioral services.

Nature and Scope

A class incumbent reports to an administrative, clinical and/or technical superior and supervises subordinate personnel.  Incumbents oversee behavior services designed to enhance functioning in individuals with developmental disabilities. Work includes responsibility for the development of policies and procedures for implementation of various programs. A significant aspect of this work is the necessity to evaluate, monitor, and approve  behavior services designed to enhance functioning individuals with developmental disabilities.

Essential Functions

  • Evaluates, monitors and approves all behavior services to clients in institutional or community programs.
     
  • Provides behavioral services consultation to community-based institutional facilities and         
    outside agencies.
     
  • Designs and implements training programs for clients, provider, and for subordinate staff.
     
  • Trains, assigns, supervises and/or evaluates the performance of professional and paraprofessional staff.
     
  • Prepares statistical data relative to client status, treatment programs, training information, and 
    research projects.
     
  • Participates in professional committees at the Division and Regional level.
     
  • May oversee the evaluations and assessments of client functioning.
     
  • May develop, administer, monitor and evaluate professional contracts in the areas of Psychiatry or Psychology.

    behavior support plans and techniques.
  • Skill in the application and interpretation of legal and ethical issues involving behavior
    support technology.
  • Skill in the administration and interpretation of evaluations and assessments of client
    functioning.
  • Skill in directing the work of behavior services staff.
  • Skill in development of behavior support plans, strategies and programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives from various professions and staff.
  • Ability to interpret legal and ethical issues involving behavior support technology.
  • Ability to direct the implementation of behavior support plans by other professional and direct care staff.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Behavior Analyst Supervisor
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Behavioral or Social Science or related field. 
  2. Three years experience in developing functional assessment plans by assessing behavioral needs and determining behavioral objectives.
  3. Three years experience in evaluating and assessing client functioning using a variety of formal tests and survey tools.
  4. Three years experience in making recommendations as part of a clients service plan such as clinical treatment, counseling, or determining eligibility for health or human services/benefits.
  5. Three years experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  6. Knowledge of developing policies or procedures.
  7. Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.
