An incumbent in this class is responsible for dispatching vehicles from a centralized motor pool, tracking and monitoring vehicle assignments, scheduling and coordinating service work and inspecting vehicles for safety, serviceability and cleanliness to ensure vehicles remain in optimum condition.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent reports to a Fleet Services Field Supervisor. Work is performed according to established policies and procedures as well as standard vehicle trade practices. An incumbent uses an automated information system to track and monitor vehicle assignments, enter, update, modify, retrieve, inquiry and report on vehicle data and interacts with the public, state employees, vendors and agency staff regarding vehicle/service issues.

Dispatches vehicles from a centralized motor pool; tracks and monitors vehicle assignments through the use of an automated information system.
Coordinates, arranges and delivers vehicles for routine service, repair and warranty activities to contractual automotive vendors following approved purchasing practices.
Creates and maintains work orders, enters repairs, parts, and labor descriptions into an automated information system, schedules work with vendors and estimates/calculates costs.
Inspects vehicles for safety, serviceability and cleanliness to ensure vehicles remain in optimum condition.
Performs routine maintenance activities such as adding oil or fluids, filling window washer reservoirs and checking and adjusting tire pressure. May change tires, batteries, filters or wiper blades when necessary.
Prepares and maintains records of vehicle activity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Fleet Services Technician
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Knowledge of preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as lubricating, cleaning, and servicing.
Knowledge of using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
Knowledge of record keeping.
Knowledge of math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, or decimals.
Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
