Rehearses and performs in touring theatrical productions.
Plans, organizes, promotes, and teaches theatre/art workshops, classes and camps.
Designs and constructs all necessary props, set pieces, puppets and/or costumes for each touring production. Operates audiovisual equipment such as film/slide projectors and tape players; operates sound and light systems
Attends and conducts sessions at meetings, workshops and training clinics.
Coordinates programs and activities with coworkers and supervisor.
Serves as a liaison and promotes Creative Arts Theatre programming throughout the community.
Performs related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of: acting and theatre production.
Working knowledge of: rehearsal and performance process and protocol; theatre production; theatre education; the use and care of tools and equipment pertinent to theatre production; basic computer skills – word processing, internet research, and social media.
Some knowledge of: public relations and marketing principles and practices; first aid and CPR
Ability to: rehearse and perform when on tour; memorize lines and blocking; plan, organize and oversee specialized theatre education initiatives; stimulate interest and enthusiasm of various age groups in theatre; organize and execute work independently as well as collaboratively; provide leadership in coordinating and conducting Creative Arts Theatre activities; maintain records and compile reports; perform duties requiring physical strength and endurance; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
Instructional ability: passion for theatre education and some teaching experience preferred.
Skill in: acting; theatrical design; theatrical construction; theatre education; use and care of pertinent equipment.
Graduation from an accredited high school and completion of one (1) year of college with coursework in recreation, recreation therapy, physical education, leisure services, art, theater, or a closely related field, with one (1) year of experience in specialized recreation programs, preferably in an instructional or theatrical performance capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred requirements: College degree with three (3) years of experience in acting, organized theatre programs, theatrical production and/or theatre education.
