Solano County Library is a progressive and innovative library with secure funding and widespread support from the community. The Solano County Library is guided in its mission to enrich the lives of the people in the County by a Strategic Plan, which is community focused, staff inspired, and outreach oriented. The Library serves the community with eight branches and virtual services in five of the seven cities in Solano County with a staff of 111 FTE. The community showed its strong support by the passage of a dedicated sales tax measure in 1998 and an 80% yes vote in the June 2012 election which continues the sales tax measure until 2030.
The Library Branch Manager plans, organizes, and directs the operations of a cluster of branch libraries, with each branch supervising librarian reporting directly to the manager, and related library outreach efforts to provide a comprehensive program of library services. The incumbent supervises and evaluates the work of staff, monitors and implements budgets, coordinates with administration and other managerial staff on policy and procedure, participates in public relations activities, and ensures proper maintenance and safety of the facility and equipment.
Cluster branch libraries include:
Vallejo Cluster: John F. Kennedy Library and the Springtowne Library.
Fairfield Cluster: Fairfield Civic Center Library, Fairfield Cordelia Library, and the Suisun City Library.
Vacaville Cluster: Vacaville Public Library - Cultural Center, Vacaville Public Library - Town Square, and the Rio Vista Library.
The Library Branch Manager reports to the Deputy Director of Public Services and serves as the primary liaison between the branches and administration. The position involves frequent travel between branches.

This position is an "at-will" senior management position and is exempt from the civil service; incumbents serve at the discretion of the appointing authority.
Experience: Four (4) years of professional librarian experience involving the provision of public library services including reference and collection development as well as programming including two years of experience supervising professional level staff.
Education: Masters degree in library science from an accredited college or university is required.
Special Requirements: Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver's license may be required.

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2017 calendar year is $1,520.73 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.
Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.
Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.
The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.
Vacation is accrued at approximately 15 days per year for the first 10 years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Effective July 1 of each year, 80 hours of administrative leave is granted
Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years.
