Permanent Exempt – This position is exempt from Civil Service Commission rules pursuant to the City and County of San Francisco, Charter Section 10.104, and serves at the discretion of the Appointing Officer.  This position is excluded by the Charter from the competitive civil service examination process.

  

This is a long term position [up to three (3) years].  However, employment may continue indefinitely. Incumbent will work 24 hours per week.  Currently, there is one vacancy.

 

 

Who We Are

The Human Services Agency is a department of the City and County of San Francisco and the central resource for public assistance in the City. Our mission is to promote well-being and self-sufficiency among individuals, families and communities in San Francisco.

HSA was formed in 2004 with the merger of two previously existing city departments, the Department of Human Services and the Department of Aging and Adult Services. The agency retains two commissions and two department heads. The agency also includes the Office of Early Care and Education. Position Description

 

The Human Services Agency, County Adult Assistance Program (CAAP) is accepting applications for Class 2230 for a part-time position.

 

Under general supervision, incumbents in class 2230 Physician Specialist assist in conducting disability assessments and consulting to a multi-disciplinary team. The clientele are adults who present a wide range of medical and behavioral health disorders, many receiving no current treatment, or with inconsistent treatment histories.

 

The Human Services Agency, County Adult Assistance Program (CAAP) is accepting applications for Class 2230 for a part-time position.

clientele are approximately 70% male and 30% female.

 

The essential functions of the physician specialist position include, but are not limited to:

 

Providing regular training and clinical consultation to a multi-disciplinary team; conducting evaluations of County Adult Assistance Program (CAAP) clients to determine if they have disabling conditions and providing documentation to support applications for Social Security Benefits; conducting collateral interviews with primary care and behavioral health staff to obtain necessary medical records and information; requesting and reviewing additional medical records.

 

Shift Information

 

Monday through Friday

Approximately 8:00AM to 5:00PM 

There is flexibility regarding scheduled days within the listed shift.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Graduation from an accredited medical school and possession of a Doctor of Medicine degree or Doctor of Osteopathy degree; AND


2. 
Possession of a license to practice medicine issued by the California Medical Board and Board Eligibility in the respective specialty consistent with the above requirementsAND


3. Completion of a recognized Residency Program; AND


4. Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Occupational Medicine, or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

 

Desirable Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

1.     Two years’ experience providing assessment and treatment to an indigent population; experience in occupational health.

2.     Ability to establish rapport and positive working alliances with clients who are not treatment compliant and present unstable mental states.

3.     Ability to demonstrate competence in the assessment and treatment of a culturally diverse clientele.

4.     Ability to conduct assessment and provide training and clinical supervision to a multidisciplinary team.

5.     Ability to provide clear written reports documenting medical disorders.

6.     Ability to demonstrate leadership and collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

7.   Excellent verbal communication skills.

The selection process will include evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements. Depending on the number of applicants, the Department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate qualifications of candidates. If this becomes necessary, only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the Department will be invited for an interview.

Conviction History

Disaster Service Workers
