2468 DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST II

 

Under general supervision, the Diagnostic Imaging Technologist II at the Department of Public Health, performs diagnostic imaging and/or therapeutic procedures on all age groups for outpatient, inpatient and emergency/ trauma patients in advanced modalities which includes Mammography (MM), Computed Tomagraphy (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Quality Management (QM), Cardiac-Interventional (CI) Radiography, Vascular-Interventional (VI) and Interventional Radiography (IR); performs general diagnostic imaging procedures including gastrointestinal (GI), genitourinary (GU),Trauma, and skeletal and thoracic imaging; assesses general patient condition; documents medical and departmental records of procedures and events; transports patients; may perform venipuncture, Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and assists in preparing and/or administering contrast media, as required relative to modality; and assists in the training of student imaging technologists. Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. One year of experience working as a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist; AND
  2. Possession of a valid certificate issued by the State of California as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT); AND
  3. Certification in, and current registration with, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); AND
  4. Possession of a valid permit in Fluoroscopy equipment issued by California Department of Public Health; AND
  5. Certification in Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); AND
  6. Certification in at least one of the following advanced modalities:
    • Mammography (MM)
    • Computed Tomography (CT)
    • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
    • Quality Management (QM)
    • Cardiac-Interventional (CI)
    • Vascular-Interventional (VI)

Selection Plan

Training and Experience Supplemental Questionnaire Evaluation (Weight: 100%):

Candidates will be prompted to complete a supplemental questionnaire as part of the online employment application. The Supplemental Questionnaire is designed to measure your experience performing job related duties and your knowledge, skills and/or abilities in job-related areas which may include, but not be limited to: knowledge of radiologic science, cross-sectional anatomy, patient positioning, radiation safety practices and regulations (California Code of Regulations Title 17), body substance precautions, body mechanics; knowledge of California Code of Regulations Title 22; if assigned to MR, knowledge of Magnetic Resonance physics and safety; knowledge of preventative and safety standards in compliance with federal, state and departmental standards; knowledge of medical information technology systems; ability to perform diagnostic imaging procedures on all age groups; ability to assess general patient condition and effectively care for patients’ needs; ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); ability to perform venipuncture; ability to perform advanced procedures in advanced modalities as assigned; ability to adhere to preventive and safety standards to limit exposure to radiation, accidents, health hazards and disagreeable elements; ability to maintain clinical competency and pertinent continuing education; ability to perform the full range of body motion, manual dexterity and eye hand coordination; ability to stand, walk or sit for extensive periods of time; ability to lift and carry heavy items; ability to communicate, interact and resolve problems with patients, physicians, coworkers, students and other customers; ability to maintain efficient workflow; ability to adapt to changing technologies; ability to verbally provide and exchange information and express ideas in a clear, concise and effective manner; ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise and easily understandable manner. This also refers to the ability to prepare accurate form reports; read and understand written instruction; and to communicate information clearly and effectively in writing; and ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds including patrons, volunteers and co-workers.

All relevant experience, education and/or training must be described in the work experience and/or education sections of the application and Supplemental Questionnaire at the time of filing in order to be reviewed in the scoring process. Candidate responses on the Supplemental Questionnaire cannot be changed once submitted.

A passing score must be achieved in order to be placed on the Eligible List. Candidates will be placed on the eligible list in rank order according to their final score. The department may administer additional position-specific selection procedures to make final hiring decisions.

CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT/ ELIGIBLE LIST:

The City and County of San Francisco continuously accepts applications for Class 2468 Diagnostic Imaging Technologist II.

Names of successful candidates will be added to the existing eligible list with an eligibility period of twelve (12) months. Candidates are not allowed to reapply during their 12 months eligibility period. Names are removed from the continuous list at the end of the eligibility period. Candidates do not have the option to automatically extend their eligibility. If you with to reapply after your eligibility expires, return to this announcement and follow the instructions in the How to Apply section. Please note, reapplying is not permitted while your name is still on the eligible list.

Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list in rank order according to their final score on the Supplemental Questionnaire. Please note, additional names may be added to the eligible list periodically; candidates names will be merged into the existing eligible list. Final scores will be valid for twelve (12) months.

Eligible List:The eligible list resulting from this examination is subject to change after adoption (e.g., as a result of appeals), as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission.The duration of eligibility resulting from this examination process will be 12 months, and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.

Certification:The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be Rule of Ten Scores.  Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.

Conviction History

As a finalist for a job, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction (or arrest, in limited circumstances) conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you are a finalist. If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances, such as:

  • Candidates applying for positions with the Unified School District and the Community College District may be disqualified from consideration should their conviction history not meet the standards established under the California Education Code.
  • Candidates applying for positions with the Recreation and Park Department may be disqualified from consideration should their conviction history not meet the standards established under California Public Resources Code 5164.

Having a conviction history does not automatically preclude you from a job with the City.

Disaster Service Workers

All City and County of San Francisco employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
