SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONAIRE INSTRUCTIONS

The purpose of this Supplemental Questionnaire (SQ) is to describe your training and experience as they relate to the knowledge, skills, and abilities linked to the essential functions of this 0923 position (please refer to the job announcement for a more detailed description of these knowledge, skills and abilities).

Only the information you provide in your answers to these questions will be evaluated to determine your score in the selection process for this position. NO attachments or additional documents such as resumes, cover letters, or employment applications will be considered (i.e. Providing an external weblink, writing ‘see resume', 'see application', 'details upon request' is NOT a sufficient response).

NOTE: All qualifying experience must be listed on the application in order to be considered in review of the Minimum Qualifications. If the experience described below is not included in the Work History section of your application, you will not receive credit for this experience. The SQ may be presented to an expert review panel for an assessment and will be used as part of the examination process to determine candidates' score and rank on the eligible list. This Supplemental Questionnaire will account for 60% of the total weight of the candidates’ final score. Insufficient or non-responsive answers and/or answer that are plagiarized or have falsified information may result in disqualification from the recruitment process.

The responses that you provide to this questionnaire should be consistent with the information on your application, and are subject to verification.

If there is a question regarding experience that you do not have, try to include examples of similar experience that would demonstrate your ability or potential to perform the specific function.

Describe your experience managing the staff and operations of a security services department. What is the largest total number of staff you have managed? Describe  your experience working in a unionized environment. Were there particular challenges? Please describe how you resolved these issues.

Describe your experience with the protection of cultural property in a public setting. Include in your response the specific challenges you faced and special programs that needed to be implemented to address these particular needs.

Describe your experience developing training programs related to safety and security. Include in your response the types of training you have been responsible for implementing, such as emergency response (involving people, facilities, art), customer service, implementing policies and procedures, or a similar type of training.

Describe your experience developing and implementing new policies for a security department. How did you ensure adherence to new policies once implemented? Give an example of a time you created and implemented a policy, and in your response describe any challenges you faced.

Describe strategies you have employed to evaluate existing security staffing structures and scheduling practices for both regular shifts and overtime (regular and event.) Discuss how you were able to optimize both structure and scheduling to maximize efficiency of dollars spent and staff utilized.

Describe your experience developing and managing personnel budgets. Include in your response the amount of yearly budget you typically managed and the process through which you developed these budgets.

Describe your past experience utilizing a diverse range of security equipment, devices, and protective procedures and activities, including highly specialized operating requirements, methods, and procedures in order to safeguard personnel and property (including art treasures.) In your response specify what kind of equipment you are experienced with.
