FRAME WELDER
JOB OBJECTIVE/SUMMARY
This position performs work doing lay out, fitting, and welding structural components to and other such products to be used in industrial applications. The position is responsible to properly weld various metals including aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel using MIG & TIG. Acceptable welds must pass standard plate and bend testing. The position performs work according to the specifications in engineering drawings, blueprints, layout, and diagrams in accordance with specific quality system standards such as ISO 9001 and other such international quality system standards. Performs other tasks as assigned by management.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Accurately select type and size of materials needed for project
Use appropriate tools/machinery to measure, cut, and lay out projects per design specifications
Efficiently operate necessary saw, cutting torch, crane, and other factory machinery as required by management
Weld in horizontal, flat, overhead, and vertical positions
Accurately lay out and weld pieces together to assemble components as designated in engineering drawings
Efficiently perform visual inspections and identify quality defects
Effectively utilize designated systems to document quality defects
Tack welding as necessary or required
Efficiently operate welding equipment to produce desired welds (power on, strike arc to generate heat and deposit metal to join edges of work, manually guide welding gun along the weld-line, maintain length of arc and speed of movement to form the specific depth of fusion and bead)
Wear appropriate PPE as required
Follow all required safety policies and requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to pass basic welder qualifications testing including bend, visual, and radiography testing
Must be able to feel texture and grip with fingers and complete visual inspection with eyes
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be proficient with MIG & TIG welding
Problem solving skills and basic thinking and reasoning skills
High school diploma
Experience welding in the steel industry is preferred.
Must be able to pass drug screen
Must be able to pass background check
Must be at least 18 years of age
