A leading global manufacturer of engineered automotive structural metal components and assemblies primarily serving original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Full time direct-hire opportunities are available for:
Metal Stamping Press Operator
Position Summary: This position is responsible for building or repairing all types, sizes, and shapes of tools, dies, fixtures and jigs. Assemble and tryout complex tools and dies on manufacturing equipment as required for production.
Responsibilities:

Wears all required safety equipment and ensures area and environment is safe

Perform preventative maintenance as required
-
Clean and organize area, keep area free of clutter and safety hazards – 6S
-
Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted

Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants and machine tool feeds and speeds

Heat-treats and welds parts as required
-
Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gaging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining

Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.

Uses hand tools of the trade

Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.

Sets up, runs off and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same

Tear down, repairs and reassembles tooling on the bench or in the press as required
-
Assist’s other tool room personnel with troubleshooting skills or ideas
-
Assist’s cell leaders with troubleshooting tooling during production runs
-
High degree of precision and control in work where damage could be high and where muscular control and delicate touch are required
-
High degree of attention and care required, preventing injury to self and others when operating machine tools
-
Possess good troubleshooting skills

Able to pull and set-up tooling
-
Must have valid forklift operator’s card (or be willing to be trained before starting job assignment)

Process hourly/daily paperwork as required
-
Does in-press P.M.’s as scheduled
-
Other duties as required
Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the colleague regularly works near moving equipment.

The noise level in the work environment is very loud.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, product, or equipment.
- The colleague is regularly required to talk and hear.
- The colleague is frequently required to reach with hands and arms in repairing fixing, welding, or conducting inspection.
- The colleague must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
