Machine Setter

 

 

 

 

Job Purpose:  Preparing and setting-up of machines.

 

 
Duties:
 

Prepare and set-up machines for serial production.  Set-up machines (CNC controlled or manual) according to the given plan and adjust measurement equipment Change of tools.  Provide parts and raw material, prepare tools.  Adjust cutting data and tools according to charts, drawings, and tooling diagram.  Optimize process steps (e.g. change of the tool order, the process steps, the clamping of the parts).  Produce a sample part.  If necessary, ask for approval and adjust measurements and process data.  Run production.

 

Run production and inspect parts.  Insert, clamp, and adjust parts in the machine.  Monitor running of machine.  If necessary, stop it.  Correct setting data respectively clamping.  Control parts regarding quality, dimensional accuracy, free from defects and completeness.  Keep records of rework and defect parts.

 

Control of organizational processes.  Determine batch order according to the given production program if necessary consider special production requests (e.g. different types, trials).  Keep records of productivity-, capacity-codes and make sure that given data will be met.  Schedule production equipment (e.g. tools).  Make field tests.  Find out the reason for defect parts and eliminate it.

 

Eliminate disruptions.  Find out the failure of the process.  Eliminate process disruptions of the machine (e.g. change and adjust the equipment) respectively ask for support at the maintenance department.  Give detailed information of the failure.  Suggest actions to achieve process optimization.

 

Maintenance.  Perform maintenance and cleaning according to specification and keep records.  Monitor maintenance and corrective intervals.  Perform minor repairs (e.g. exchange of switches and buttons).  Suggest alternative processes.

 

Entry requirements:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of a CNC Certificate or Boot Camp
  • 1 Year of relevant experience 

 

Training will be at no charge to trainees.
