Toray Carbon Fibers America, Inc. a world leader in the manufacturing of carbon fiber is seeking qualified applicants for an instrumentation and controls technician for our new South Carolina facility.

The Instrumentation & Controls Technician is responsible for maintaining and upgrading the Distributed Control System including program changes, modification and/or new applications. Provide technical assistance to other maintenance, technical engineering and operation personnel in the installation of PLC systems and program changes to PLC programs. Monitor and ensure that the DCS hardware, DCS software, and other control equipment is functioning correctly and is properly maintained to provide reliable service to plant operations.

 

 

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

 

  • Calibrate and repair existing equipment.  
  • Monitor and document daily checks.  
  • Order and purchase spare and replacement parts. 
  • Attend safety meetings and other department meetings.  
  • Design and edit existing prints to keep them current.  
  • Make software modifications and create new applications. 

 

 

 

General requirements include, but are not limited to:

     

  • Ability to attend training in out of state location.  
  • Related experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment is preferred.  
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of similar or related experience.  

 

Equivalent to a college degree (non-technical discipline) or multi-craft skills acquired through extensive on-the-job training or apprenticeship programs or in-depth industry and job specific technician skills acquired through a combination of formal instruction and on-the-job training.
