SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This Project Manager position will be responsible for working with readySCon the Volvo Cars project. Serves as a Project Manager in the Division of Economic Development and Workforce Competitiveness of the SC Technical College System, to support the development and delivery of readySC™ training projects by participating in the core business practices (Project Management including the 3D processes for readySC™ projects and Apprenticeship standards, Stakeholder Management, and Business Development).  The Project Manager works independently or in collaboration with an Area Director in coordinating and managing workforce training using the prescribed methodologies designed by the organization based on project level complexity and specific client company requirements; and develops final training strategy and schedules for multiple small or large-scale projects to ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget. The Project Manager works independently or in collaboration with an Area Director on project management activities in developing comprehensive training communication plan(s) for each project to effectively manage client relations; manages the resources required for project site preparation from design through construction and finish; manages the recruitment,  selection  and  training  of  the  human  resources  allocated  to  the  project; and  including  Project  Coordinators, Instructors and Administrative Support staff; and manages the trainee recruiting and selection process for the client company. The Project Manager is responsible for stakeholder management in maintaining strong relationships with economic development allies and workforce development allies across the state to insure effective and efficient collaboration and action when necessary to resource or support projects. Additionally, participates in the business development initiatives of the Division through direct interaction with clients and by leading activities in support of the business development goals of the Division. Thus, project assignments will be based on the Division workloads and requirements.

 

SBTCE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelors degree and five (5) years of experience in project management.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Automotive manufacturing experience. Certification as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certification Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is a highly desirable, but not required. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities to include, but not limited to problem solving, flexible work schedule, and adapting to a changing environment. Proven presentation and facilitation skills. Must have the ability to attain proficiency and expertise on Discovery-Design-Delivery methodology to identify and meet internal and external clients’ needs. Must maintain cordial professional relations with colleagues and stakeholders as is the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently orally and in writing. Must be self-driven to work independently, as well as part of a team. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting laws, policies and procedures pertaining to the assigned program area.
