Introduction
in cooperation with
Piedmont Technical College
will conduct a Special Training Program for:
Samsung Electronics America, Inc.
The Newberry, SC facility will produce washing machines and other home appliances.

Area Leader
The Area Leader acts as the coordinator and lead for their area. They will be responsible for continuous improvement, problem-solving, and ensuring excellence in production and quality for their area.
Job Responsibilities:

Provide ongoing employee coaching and development while driving employee engagement in your area

Be an advocate for proactive safety and safety procedures, while ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all equipment and use of required Personal Protective Equipment in the area of responsibility

Make appropriate work assignments through manpower scheduling, overtime coordination, vacation sign up, etc.

Assist in the continuous improvement effort by driving and coaching our teams in Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery along with other Lean initiatives such as quick change-overs and problem-solving

Challenge the members to meet all metric standards and goals

Engage in honest, open and factual communications in a professional manner

Demonstrate alignment with Samsung’s values and philosophies

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to read and write in English or to communicate in American Sign Language
- The ability to stand up for 8 to 10 hours a day, plus additional overtime as needed
- Available to work any shift, including weekends and holidays
- Flexible work availability and able to work overtime as needed with same-day notice
- The ability to bend, stoop, grip, reach and lift up to 40 lbs. on a repetitive basis
- The ability to pass a drug test and background check
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions
- 5 or more years of experience in manufacturing
Preferred/Desired:
- Need to be able to work in a fast paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
- Proficient with the use of shop equipment including mills, lathes, grinders and welders
- The ability to work with components that are in constant motion along an assembly line without adverse effects
- The ability to work on a team of co-workers in close proximity to each other
- The ability to make timely decisions and provide feedback to each other
- Have a strong desire for personal and professional development
Starting wage of $14.75. Samsung offers a comprehensive benefits package.
