Job Summary:

 

The purpose of the Gatehouse Team Member role is to handle inbound and outbound gates for all trucks. The role should communicate regularly with internal stakeholders as well as appointed suppliers to ensure processes and procedures are followed.

 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  

  • Responsible for the administrative management of inbound shipments for Volvo Cars Charleston.
  • Verify incoming shipments against scheduled deliveries.
  • Contact with drivers and direct them to the correct unloading dock or yard slot location.
  • Update various systems with goods receipt message of incoming shipments.
  • Perform required Customs–Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) inspection processes, which includes, but is not limited to driver identification, seal verification and equipment inspection.
  • Direct outbound traffic of drayage containers, empty trailers, and rack loads using a management system.
  • Follow processes and procedures for releasing outbound finished goods.
  • Monitor transport arrival and container departure deviations.
  • Update TMS -Transport Management System (TMS) in case of discrepancies between actual volume on trailer and volume.
  • Other duties and task run according to guidelines
  • Follow all attendance policies.
  • Perform facility 5S duties daily. 
     

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • Work Keys:
    • Applied Math: Level 4 or higher
    • Graphic Literacy: Level 4 or higher
    • Workplace Documents: Level 3 or higher
  • One year of inbound or outbound logistics experience
    OR
    One year of military transportation or logistics experience
    OR
    One year of transportation dispatch experience.
  • Bill of Lading experience preferred.
  • Foreign Trade Zone knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive vehicles in tight areas.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong administrative computer skills, to include knowledge of database programs such as SAP preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Willing to work any shift, overtime and weekends.
  • Strong customer-focus and service mind-set with the ability to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally.
  • Proven abilities to perform well under pressure.
  • Basic knowledge of technical equipment (Computer’s, Two-Way Radios and Scanners).
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work alone without constant supervision and escalate appropriate issues to manager.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and relate well with other employees.
  • Must be able to handle constant exposure to the elements of outdoor weather.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods of time, bend, kneel, twist, and squat.
