Position location: Oklahoma School for the Deaf- Sulphur

Essential Functions

To teach deaf and hard of hearing students across the State of Oklahoma. This position is responsible for providing learning experiences by utilizing School curriculum, IEP goals and objectives and other appropriate materials and activities. Duties include preparing lessons plans, reports and keeping records of student behavior and attitude needed to provide an orderly productive classroom environment; ascertain learning needs of students and to establish evaluation techniques for assessment of progress, as well as participate in extracurricular activities.

Preference may be given to applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education of the Deaf, and Hard of Hearing.

Preferred Education and Experience Requirements: 
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or State of Oklahoma Teacher’s Certificate or qualifications to meet certification.

Selective Qualifications:
An expressive and receptive sign language skill with fluency in American Sign Language. 

Salary: 
Annual salary is commensurate with education and years of experience; Bachelor’s degree: $33,180.00 to $46,148.00. 

Employees are provided paid health, dental, life and retirement benefits as well as an option to participate in the State’s tax-deferred annuity program.  This will be a 180-day per year, contracted position.

Conclusion

Veteran’s preference points apply only for initial appointment in the classified service.
