Position is located at the Oklahoma Youth Academy Charter School in Manitou.

Employment starting date is July 1, 2015. Conducts classes in secondary school subjects such as English, Reading and English, Special Education, History, Math, Science, Computer Science, Art, and Career Technology. Designs and delivers curricula in subject area aligned to Oklahoma Standards.

Plans and lays out courses of study for subjects taught; develops and implements unit and lesson plans reflecting school-wide goals of literacy and critical thinking skills; prepares and administers examinations prepares progress reports, daily attendance reports and report cards; develops student knowledge and skills documented with content and interdisciplinary curriculum maps.

Create a student-centered classroom environment giving individual instructions, encouragement, counseling and guidance while engaging student interest and promoting student leadership. Assessing learning styles, modalities and interests of students and implement differentiated instruction to meet individual student’s needs.

Working closely with parents and caregivers to support student progress and will collaborate with on-line tutors, teacher assistants and other teachers and facility staff. Attend teachers meetings and participates in the planning, scheduling and development of the school program.

Bachelor’s degree in education or eligibility for certification in teaching area and knowledge of student-centered instruction, performance based assessments and youth development principles.

Special Requirements:
Experience working in a correctional environment or with high-risk youth as a teacher and familiar with research-based instructional methods and curriculum development.
