The Information Services Division (ISD) is seeking a full-time IT Coordinator for our Ardmore Location providing IT services to the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs. This is an unclassified position within Oklahoma state government. Click here to view our comprehensive Benefits Packet.
This position is assigned overall responsibilities for providing computer services and office automation support related to implementing and maintaining personal computer systems, local area networks, client workstations, network components, and other automation equipment and devices. In this role, incumbents are assigned technical responsibilities involving the implementation and maintenance of various types of computer systems and related equipment and software. Duties include providing assistance and training to users, identifying and resolving problems related to applications and software, coordinating and supporting automation systems for specific program areas, performing regular maintenance on computer equipment, printers and other devices, and serving as a liaison between users and the Information Technology Division as required.
•Diagnoses and troubleshoots problems with applications and software and client workstations, servers, network components, office automation equipment and devices, and related systems and devices; identifies causes and resolves technical problems; coordinates with Central Office Information Technology Division.
•Open and record into help desk tracking software all support calls from the user community. Enter all issues and resolutions related to computer hardware and software or inquiries on how to use specific software and hardware.
•Performs preventative maintenance on computer related equipment; coordinates network security requests.
•Participates in testing and implementing new applications and software. May serve as a specialist in the various electronic data processing systems utilized for various program areas; makes recommendations regarding training and equipment needed for office automation; maintains security of computer identifications and/or passwords; assists with asset management; assists with data backup duties and procedures.
•Assists with the production of reports as needed; and transports or delivers computer related equipment.
•Participates in workshops, seminars, conferences and other training on computer systems, networks and office automation devices; keeps abreast of current technology and improvements.
•May prepare letters, memorandums and reports.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge and Skills:
•Knowledge of computer systems, local area networks, office automation software, and related equipment and devices is required.
•Knowledge of computer maintenance requirements and procedures is required.
•Knowledge of data processing concepts and procedures is required.
•Knowledge of data base structures and applications systems and of modern office administration is required.
•Ability to analyze and evaluate computer systems is required.
•Ability to install and maintain computer networks is required.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships is required.
•Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations is required.
•Ability to express ideas and facts clearly and effectively is required.
•Ability to follow oral and written instructions is required.
Two years of experience in telecommunications or computer installation, maintenance, repair or operations or eighteen semester hours of college in Computer Science or Management Information Systems course work or completion of a technical school, vendor training, or certification in telecommunications maintenance, computer operations, electronics or a closely related field.
