Introduction

MPT internships offer a thorough introduction to Maryland Public Television including our mission and expectations. Maryland Public Television is committed to providing solid work experience to serious minded individuals in a positive environment.

All MPT internships are unpaid. An internship that is not for academic credit is deemed a volunteer.

Main Purpose of Job

Maryland Public Television offers full-time and part-time internships for college students throughout the year. Internships are specifically designed to provide training and experience for students interested in public broadcasting.

POSITION DUTIES

The Administrative Offices will offer learning experiences in maintaining "front office" activities. Students will assist in: research, interviews, and drafting copy for MPT publications; drafting press releases; research to build target media lists for publicity campaigns; fact-checking/proofreading; events support; and special purpose publications. Students will become familiar with customer service and handling public inquiries via telephone. Candidates must have strong PC experience and the ability to write professional reports and correspondence. Candidates must be detail oriented; well organized and able to work effectively within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Students must be able to process and prioritize high volumes of work under tight deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria:

Students must be a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate of a college, university, or trade school who must be able to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week and have reliable transportation.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must accompany the application.

Preferred Majors: Communications, Business, Human Resources

Interns will be evaluated based upon information submitted via this online application process and may be invited to interview.
