Introduction

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the Summer Staff is to assist in facilitating hands-on educational programming for the summer camp programs and events at JPPM. Summer staff will assist with the development of camp activities as well as serve as interpretive staff for the Woodland Indian Village, Visitor Center, and Exhibit Barn.

Summer Staff will provide support for the education department's mission of improving public accessibility to, and understanding of the history and archaeology of, the property and region.

POSITION DUTIES

1. Works directly with the public and summer camps facilitating hands-on educational programming at Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum.

2. Assists with the development of camp program activities.

3. Serves as interpretative staff at the Woodland Indian Village, Visitor Center, and Exhibit Barn.

4. Assists with Indian Village and Garden maintenance.

5. Participates in special events sponsored by Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum. 

6. Candidates must be able to work weekends as necessary and accept other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Education. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Diploma/GED

Experience: Three months experience working with youth(camps, classroom, or museums).

Three months experience developing lesson plans or creative projects.

Those graduating High School May 2018 will be considered with written verification of graduating status from their High School.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Three months experience working outside in one of the following areas: gardens, trails, light construction.
