Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as the agency's Assistant Director for Administration. The position ensures the effective and efficient use of all financial and material resources and the delivery of quality services to the public and to assist the Director and Executive Staff in the support of line staff. The position will enhance the delivery of customer service by providing efficient management of the following departments: Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Procurement, Operations of the building and emergency management.

POSITION DUTIES

Oversees and manages Human Resources, Finance, Procurement, Information Technology and building operations. Supervises employees on policies and procedures applicable to State, County, and Federal laws and the development and implementation of plans to improve job performance and participating in administrative responsibilities to insure adequate and improved job performance. This position may manage the daily operations of the Agency in the Director's absence.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelors Degree in Business, Business Administration, Public Policy or a similar field.

Experience: Five (5) years of administrative or professional work. One year of this experience must have involved one or more of the following: the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a unit, applying rules and regulations or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a high ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:

Experience in planning, organizing, staffing, leading or directing and controlling an organization to accomplish the goal.

Experience developing and monitoring budgets, procurement, Quality Improvement and Emergency Management
