Main Purpose of Job
This position functions as the IT Director of the Maryland State Police Information Technology Division (ITD) in the Technology and Information Management Command with responsibility for assisting and advising the IT Commander, managing day-to-day operations, oversight, administration, management of the network and network security. It also includes strategic and tactical planning, budgeting, research and development of application data services and the CAD/RMS system, developing and implementing a wide area network to include traditional data communications, digital microwave and other wireless communications circuits for the Maryland State Police.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or other technology-related field
Experience: Ten years or more of progressive IT experience to include direct involvement in leading a team of technical staff, working with the Executive Management of an organization and managing multiple concurrent projects.
Note:
1. Candidates may substitute additional IT experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Possesses advanced technical or managerial credentials
2. Certification as a Certified Information Security Manager
3. Proven Project Management skills
4. Experience working with government entities
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates will be subject to a complete criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection for this process will involve a review of each application. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be placed on an eligible list in the BEST qualified category. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select the individual to fill the vacancy. The list will be valid for one year.
