Main Purpose of Job
This position will serve as the lead position to provide support, training and assistance to other Medical Care Program Associates and other staff in the Maryland Children's Health Program. This position will provide other workers in the program with interpretation of eligibility regulations, policy manual, procedures and law in making eligibility determinations along with providing additional training of staff when necessary, at the request of the supervisor. This position will represent the program in the appeal process. In addition, this position will be responsible for new eligibility determinations and redeterminations for the MCHP, FAC, MCHP Premium and Medicaid. This position will also complete verification process for recipients; complete online MCO enrollment selection for approved Medicaid recipients; and provide case management and referral to the Navigator and other programs at DSS, WIC and other Health Department programs. All of the assignments are performed according to State, Local and Federal regulations or as written in COMAR.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.
Notes: 1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
