Main Purpose of Job
This position acts as the Assistant Director of the Family Investment Administration (FIA) and is responsible for establishing goals, policies, budgets and schedules for the FIA Program; ensures compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations; and is responsible for overseeing and directing the performance of all FIA staff.
POSITION DUTIES
This position is responsible for the implementation of all Family Investment Programs offered by Garrett County Department of Social Services; ensures the programs meet the statewide goals as dictated by federal and state regulations; is responsible for administrative supervision and consultation of FIA staff; and interprets and implements policy and program requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Seven years experience in administrative, professional or technical work, two years of which must have involved supervision of other employees or exercising responsibility for program development.
Notes:
1. Applicants may substitute education at the graduate level at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years of the required general experience.
2. Experience in a human service program may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required four years of college education.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classifications or Administrative Officer specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Office Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education, two (2) years of which must have been in an administrative supervisory or consultative capacity.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
You must have a minimum of one year of experience analyzing statistical data.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal will possess:
Three years experience working with CARES System.
Three years experience creating Excel spreadsheets.
Three years experience creating Word documents.
Five years of State service within DHS.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
Applicants must be willing to accept employment in Garrett County, Maryland. Garrett County Department of Social Services is located 190 miles one way from the Metro Baltimore area.
