The Department of Housing and Community Development's Headquarters Office is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro stop.

POSITION DUTIES

Fund Analyst Trainees: (Job #C17006, C17008) - The Division of Finance and Administration is seeking two qualified candidates to serve as Fund Analysts in the Fund Accounting unit.  These positions will learn all aspects of financial grant management to ensure financial compliance with  the federal awards, drawing funds from the federal system, reconciling accounts and issuing quarterly federal reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None

Notes:

1. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or documented eligibility to sit for the CPA Examination may be substituted for the educational requirement.

2. Candidates may substitute one year of professional financial analysis experience, such as managing financial asset and debt portfolios, examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting, budget, grant or real estate investment portfolio records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles for 30 credits on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Accounting Officer classification or Financial Management specialty codes in the accounting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates will have strong computer skills, take the initiative and ask questions to work independently and gain knowledge as a Fund Analyst Trainee.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of these positions.  You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may be based on your application.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on our application.  Report all experience and education that is related to these positions. Qualified applicants may be subject to an Excel test.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
