Introduction
LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Facilitate student listening, language, and literacy development.
Provide direct listening and spoken language service to students through a variety of service delivery models.
Administer spoken language and literacy assessments.
Track student progress and determine efficacy of services and revise as necessary.
Prepare and maintain necessary records and reports on student services and progress.
Assist classroom staff in monitoring student amplification equipment and conducting listening checks.
Participate in IEP development and serving as an IEP team member; determine present levels of performance, and establish goals/objectives that specifically address student needs.
Collaborating with specialists and classroom staff in order to promote student achievement. This may include providing home visit services to families with children in the birth to five age range.
Provide in-service training to staff and families, including our early childhood parent support group.
Serve as a member of the Related Services Team and Academic Team.
Participate in team and community meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and training in literacy development for deaf/hard of hearing children.
Experience or willingness to learn and become familiar with Maryland Common Core State Standards and Maryland Early Learning Standards.
Knowledge and training in Bilingual Education approach.
Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS) Certification preferred.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Must possess a current license from the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must:
Have experience providing therapy and assessments with deaf/hard of hearing students.
Possess a conversational level of American Sign Language skills and be willing to improve to achieve proficiency in American Sign Language.
Candidates will need to provide three letters of recommendation.
