Introduction

This is a Special Appointment position with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Main Purpose of Job

Manage essential information technology systems for the agency.

POSITION DUTIES

Some of the duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages the staff of the Technical Services Unit
  • Oversees desktop computer support
  • Manages agency servers, routers, switches and related network hardware
  • Evaluates user needs for computer applications and equipment
  • Evaluates computer applications and equipment for the entire agency
  • Directs software development
  • Oversees video production, and photographic and reprographic services for the agency
  • Serves as the agency liaison to DPSCS and IT&CD and as the security officer of this node of the DPSCS network

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Ten years of experience in the IT field with five years of experience supervising three or more employees.

Notes:

1.       Additional experience in the IT field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certification in one or more of the following: Microsoft, VMWare, Cisco, Cyber Security

EXAMINATION PROCESS

All persons who meet the minimum qualifications will be approved on the certification list and will be placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.
