Introduction

Maryland Public Television, which is commonly known by its familiar name "MPT", is a public television network that comprises six television stations that broadcast throughout the entire state of Maryland as well as into the District of Columbia and parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is the only state-wide broadcaster in Maryland. MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service.

This is a Special Appointment position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

Main Purpose of Job

The HR Project Specialist assists and completes a variety of Human Resources project-based tasks including database management, event logistics and communication, project funding and program development. This position provides assistance and information to a variety of MPT employees and community partners, funders, etc. regarding Human Resources activities, events and functions. Position performs a variety of tasks requiring specialized knowledge related to area of assignment.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Event projects planning including MPT race, leadership forum.
  • Assisting in securing project funding
  • Managing the logistics of the events
  • Managing FMLA database
  • Assisting with Internship program
  • Creating presentations for staff members

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  

Experience: Minimum of 3 years professional experience in Human Resources.

For education obtained outside the United States, you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

 Must have at least six (6) months experience using Adobe Publisher for HR related projects.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • HRIS System (Workday, NEOGOV, PeopleSoft)
  • Recruitment regulations
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access and Power Point
  • Success in obtaining sponsorships

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the incumbent to work overtime beyond normal work hours, a flexible schedule including nights and weekends, and occasionally travel throughout the State of Maryland.
