Introduction
Maryland Public Television, which is commonly known by its familiar name "MPT", is a public television network that comprises six television stations that broadcast throughout the entire state of Maryland as well as into the District of Columbia and parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is the only state-wide broadcaster in Maryland. MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service.

Main Purpose of Job
The Assistant Producer/Writer for on-air fundraising will be responsible for writing pledge breaks that compel viewers to become members and donate funds to MPT. These breaks should feature language that not only raises funds for the station but also promotes the mission of MPT to educate, entertain and engage the Maryland community. Very good writing skills and the ability to script compelling fundraising messages is the prime asset of this position.
POSITION DUTIES

Write scripts for live/taped pledge breaks and long form fundraising programs such as auction previews and tele-thons

Write some pieces for direct mail

Time live/taped pledge breaks

Assist with editing of pledge roll-in material for on-air fundraising campaigns
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field
Experience: At least one (1) year of writing experience in online publishing, television or radio broadcasting or publications such as newspapers and magazines.
Note: Applicants may substitute qualifying experience on a year for year basis for the required bachelor's degree.
For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must accompany the application.
