Main Purpose of Job

This position monitors and coordinates psychiatric education and training for the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) to include technical assistance and support to psychiatric resident training programs on the role of the psychiatrist providing integrated behavioral health care. This position will serve as BHA's liaison to the University of Maryland's residency program. It will guide and recruit psychiatric residents completing their training into public sector psychiatric employment. In addition, this position will provide consultation to BHA leadership regarding forensic behavioral health programming issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a Medical Degree from an accredited medical school, Board Certification in Psychiatry, and 2 years of medical practice or public health experience in the field of psychiatry.  One year of experience must have been at an administrative level in a health care organization or system.  The preferred applicant will have experience in forensic psychiatry and experience or knowledge of the University of Maryland Residency Programs.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Notes:

1. Applicants must be licensed and currently registered with the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A photocopy of the current registration must be attached to the application.

2. Applicants not yet possessing a license to practice medicine in Maryland but who are eligible for licensure must attach a photocopy of a letter from the Maryland Board of Physicians stating eligibility by reciprocity or endorsement. Applicants will not be appointed until they have received a license from the Maryland Board of Physicians. The Board may be contacted at 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21215.

3. Applicants must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization.  Candidates must be board-certified in Psychiatry. 

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Special Appointment position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
