LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
This contractual position researches mail payments, deposits and submits electronically. This position posts and balances voluntary payments, offset payments and other payment and adjustments as needed daily. This position also prepares small balance abatement letters mailed out to various state agencies.
This is a contractual position that serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience reviewing, verifying, recording, adjusting and balancing financial transactions.
Notes:
1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the high school education.
2. Six credit hours in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
3. A minimum if five courses or six months of accounting-related training in a vocational training program in subjects such as journalizing transactions, analyzing transactions into debits and credits, posting to a general ledger, payroll, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One year of MD State Government FMIS experience.
Experience in processing batched checks and financial refund requests in a professional environment

Contractual employees who work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
