The primary purpose of this position is to establish and/or maintain a classroom learning environment within the Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents - Baltimore (RICA-Baltimore) in which students make measurable progress towards identified educational, curricular, and treatment goals as evidenced by periodic assessments and progress reviews, all within a family driven and youth guided environment. This position will also implement psycho-educational programs consistent with individualized education and treatment plans by providing instruction to assigned middle and/or high school students. The majority of this instruction will be in content areas of: English, Science, History, and/or Mathematics. This position will also monitor student behavior and intervene as appropriate when behavior does not meet established standards.

Education: Possession of appropriate educational credentials as determined by the Maryland State Board of Education.

Experience: None.

The preferred candidate for this position will possess one of the following:

• Music Teaching Certification
• Special Education Certification

Teachers in State operated school programs are required to acquire and maintain certification to teach in the State of Maryland per Section 6-101 of the Education Article of the Annotated Code and Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 13A.12.01.03B(2). Applicants recommended for appointment will be required to complete an Authorization and Verification of Credentials.
