Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as the Director for Re-Entry and Transition Services for the Division of Pre-Trial and Detention Services. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the Correctional Education Unit, and the Public Safety Works Unit. This position oversees several initiatives/programs including, but not limited to the Public Safety Program; the Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. grant, the Community Mediation Maryland Program, etc. This position assists the Executive Director in planning, organizing, and implementing re-entry programs. This position is the Departmental liaison on several multi-agency subcommittees including, but not limited to: Data Link, Education, Employment and Transition; Employer Engagement and represents Field Support Services in various intra-, inter-, and extra-departmental meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Social Work or related field from an accrediated college or university.

Experience:  Seven (7) years of experience working with offenders in a correctional facility or under the supervision of Parole and Probation, including two (2) years of supervisory experience or experience managing a program.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in the planning, organizing, and implementation of re-entry programs. Knowledge of re-entry nest-practices and community based organization that provide re-entry services.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
