Main Purpose of Job

The Central Collection Unit is recruiting for contractual positions to collect all delinquent accounts referred from various Maryland State Government agencies in the quickest, efficient and most cost effective manner. These positions will be located in the Baltimore office. Candidates selected for these positions must be willing to testify in court and travel state wide. These are contractual positions which serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university.

Experience:  None

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years experience in customer service.

Bi-Lingual candidates are encouraged to apply (Spanish).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates are required to undergo a criminal background check as part of the selection process due to the financial nature of the job.

SELECTION PROCESS

Successful candidates will be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.  

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The assessment may consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the position.  It is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  Please report all experience and education that is related to this position.   

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
