Main Purpose of Job

This is a professional level position with the Division of Rehabilitation Services, Rehabilitation Technology Services Program that specializes in the coordination and facilitation of the Computer Skills Development (CSD) Program that when applied, promotes employment, economic self-sufficiency and/or independence of individuals with disabilities.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides instruction for consumers attending the Computer Skills Development (CSD) training program. Provides group and individual instruction on Microsoft Office suite software, computer hardware, Internet, computer safety and maintenance, social media, and other proprietary and computer related topics. Performs curriculum development activities to adjust programming to meet the pace of change in computer technology and teaching methods. Develops daily instructional activities and strategies.  Provides and instructs individual in technical support protocols. Performs a variety of evaluations to measure baseline computer skills; individual learning styles; acquisition of skills and classroom progress; functionality of classroom and individual accommodations. Make recommendations that address the functional limitations and meet the target goals. Meets service outcome goals. Prepares classroom computer systems to ensure configurations are set to meet each individuals needs. Performs routine computer maintenance to assure that the software and hardware are up to date and fully operational. Works collaboratively with Occupational Therapist to determine appropriate workstation ergonomics and Assistive Technology (AT) clinicians for setup of appropriate AT hardware and software for students. Meets service outcome goals.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree is required. 

Experience: One year of administrative, librarian, teaching or rehabilitation work in education, library or rehabilitation programs.

Notes:

1.    Additional experience as defined above directly related to the position may be substituted for the required Bachelor’s degree at the rate of one year of experience for one year of education.

2.    Possession of a Master’s degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of and experience in classroom instruction and classroom management; Knowledge of application and operating system software, computer-based assistive technology; Knowledge of assessment methodology. Ability to: communicate with individuals with disabilities to provide classroom training, assess/diagnose assistive technology problems and recommend solutions; and to work as a member of a rehabilitation team.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
