Introduction
This is a MANAGEMENT SERVICES position with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining the quality assurance of the facility and ensures compliance with policies, procedures and the Duvall Decree
- Responsible for ensuring incidents including PREA related incidents are investigated
- This position serves as the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and Risk Manager
- Assists the Jail Warden with managing facility resources
- Serves as the Property Officer for computer equipment for the facility
- Responsible for the daily operations of intake, classification, housing and release of all inmates and detainees
- Responsible for performance measures and performance data
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration or a related field of study.
Experience: Ten years of experience in a Correctional Institution and/or Law Enforcement Agency. Five of those years must be in a senior management position including Security Chief, Facility Administrator, Acting Assistant Warden or Case Management Manager.
Notes:
1. Additional experience in criminal justice or law enforcement work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education in Criminal Justice at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Employees in this classification are subject to 24 hour call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
- Employees in the classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
- Employees must undergo a thorough background investigation.
