Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to serve as the administrative assistant to the Director of Policy and Chief Compliance Officer. This position is responsible for acting as an intermediary for the Director of Policy through frequent contact with cabinet level state officials, legislators, lobbyists, chief executive officers of health care facilities; receiving telephone calls and visitors for both Directors; coordinating responses to inquiries, complaints, requests and both controlled and general correspondence; maintaining the Director's calendar by coordinating appointments, interviews, and travel arrangements; and opening, sorting, reading and distributing incoming correspondence.

POSITION DUTIES

1. Provide high levels of professional support to the Directors of Policy and Compliance;
2. Acts as an intermediary for the Executives, maintaining frequent contacts with public and private executives, professional staff and other officials;
3. Composes correspondence of a legal nature while relieving the Executive of operational details by assembling, compiling and summarizing data into the concise form;
4. Proofread outgoing correspondence; Read reports and summarizes information to facilitate the supervisor's review for completeness and accuracy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of (Associate’s) degree or higher from an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
Experience: Two years’ experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work that included the regular and complex Interpretation of administrative decisions and policies; for the transmittal to other members of the staff with the authority of the Commanding Officer.
4. Candidates may substitute additional experience in professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
