Main Purpose of Job

This is a part time, 20 hour per week position.  This position will be performing as the Medical Director/Psychiatrist for Harford County Health Department's Outpatient Mental Health Center and other behavioral health programs.

Duties include:

  • Provide oversight to the licensed and accredited Outpatient Mental Health Center and Substance Use Disorder program services;
  • Perform psychiatric evaluations for clients having mental health and substance abuse disorders;
  • Prescribe and administering medication;
  • Represent the Division and Health Department in interagency meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.

Experience: As required for certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Medical Corpsman and Physicians classifications or Nursing or Physician and Medical Services and Special Corpsman Officer specialty codes in the medicine field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must be a Board certified psychiatrist

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Applicants must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization.

2. Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of the current license must be attached to the application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
