The Department of Housing and Community Development's Headquarters Office is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro stop.
POSITION DUTIES
The Regulatory and Compliance Inspector ensures compliance with Maryland and Federal regulations regarding the industrialized building and manufactured homes together with additional code enforcement responsibilities of the State while serving in an entry level of inspection duties in the evaluation of construction of industrialized buildings and manufacturers.
The Regulatory and Compliance Inspector also travels within and out of state to inspect industrialized building (modular) manufacturing plants to determine code compliance. This position also prepares reports of findings on the integrity, safety and energy efficiency of construction of industrialized buildings. These reports are then sent to manufacturers and the State-approved testing facilities for correction of noncompliance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One year of experience as a design and project manager engineer or architect for agency capital and operating construction, maintenance and system services projects.
Notes:
1. Additional experience as an engineer or architect in the building construction field involving the design, construction or repair of building structures or system services may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering and Architecture classifications or Engineering and Architecture specialty codes in the Architecture field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
