Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to direct the operations of the Budget Management Office within the Maryland Department of Health. This office is responsible for the preparation, development, review and management of operating budgets for each of the Departments 50 programs with an aggregate total budget in FY 2018 of $14 billion dollars. This position functions at the full performance level of work preparing, presenting and executing agency budgets for assigned units. This position is also responsible for coordinating the use of electronic systems for the Budget Management Office and introducing efficiency where appropriate. The desired candidate will have strong analytical skills, experienced EXCEL user, good written and communication skills, strong leadership skills.
Requires a bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or closely related field and five years of experience in budgeting, accounting, auditing or financial analysis.
A related master's degree or CPA will substitute for one year of general experience. Additional general experience as above can substitute year for year for the bachelor's degree.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have:
six to nine core accounting credits,
and, three to five years of supervisory experience in a budget or financial environment.
This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. A resume must accompany your application.
