Main Purpose of Job
The Assistant Director, IT Enterprise Data Services, leads transformative Information Technology projects, provides oversight to a broad range of database development and infrastructure projects, and ensures real business value is delivered to the customer as a result. This role is responsible for data centric development and support initiatives spanning multiple business units, external customers, cross functional IT teams, and third party partners. The Assistant Director, IT Enterprise Data Services, has a strong customer focus and uses innovative approaches to deliver effective technology solutions that also delight customers. This role is accountable for ensuring solutions solve key business and compliance needs in an integrated and simple manner, exploiting existing assets where feasible, building in extensibility, and minimizing long-term costs. This role assumes responsibility to ensure delivery occurs with a sense of urgency and responsiveness, is completed on schedule and within budget constraints. At the same time, Assistant Director, IT Enterprise Data Services, continuously assesses and mitigates risk, balancing the need for flexibility and agility with conformance to standard methods and tools.
POSITION DUTIES
- Works with multiple internal and external customers, stakeholders, and third parties to define data services project objectives, requirements, scope, and risk; documents and maintains project plan, schedule, reporting plan, change management plan, contingencies, test plans and resource needs.
- Uses experience and up to date strong technical skills with Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems, Microsoft SQL Server and working knowledge of a broad array of modern enterprise technologies to translate business requirements and stories into technical strategies, architectural designs, and implementation plans
- Coordinates WCC cross functional project teams to deliver projects according to plan, schedule and budget using established standards and best practices
- Manages strategic and day-to-day activities associated with assigned projects and staff members including team communications and collaboration, team development, status reporting, task management, problem solving, change management, and data services technology assessment and future planning
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology.
Experience: Five years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining application, communication, database, or operating systems software.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
The following is a required qualification. Candidates MUST possess the following:
· Four or more years of experience of design, implementation, support and management experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or newer database architecture and definition, database administration, data integration services, and data security and protection
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in leading and implementing database services projects for enterprise content management (ECM), document management, enterprise transform and load (ETL), legacy transformation, case management, and/or web portal systems.
- Technical management and hands on experience with data related components of enterprise IT projects that also included web application development, use of virtualization technologies, network infrastructure deployment, and information security compliance requirements.
- IT staff management and team development experience
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Employee may occasionally be required to be on-call or asked to work outside of normal work hours for production emergencies or planned upgrades and therefore may be provided with a cell phone or required to provide the agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached.
- Employee must have the ability to travel to Agency Regional Site locations in Maryland.
