Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Install, configure, test and manage Internetwork services systems to include but not limited to: Maintaining the integrity of the MSPAC’s network and server systems to provide a secure environment for all activity to include flight simulator operations, aircraft maintenance operations, daily flight operations, medical operations as well as routine administrative work.
Flight Simulator, Maintenance and Administrative servers – Install, configure, maintain and administer system configurations, accounts, assist with application updates, OS and security patches on all MSPAC servers.
FTP (including SFTP, SSH in a MS Windows Server environment).
Backup systems - Maintain and administer system backups and disaster recovery plans.
Data Communications – Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot and data communication hardware (to include LAN switches and router) and cabling to maintain the MSPAC’s network infrastructure and phone system.
User and System Access Management utilizing MS Active Directory.
Create requests and install SSL Certificates from Certifying Authority for web servers and security appliances.
Manage Data & Services Recovery for core services (listed above).
This position is responsible for local area networks in seven MSPAC buildings to include the Headquarters site at Martins Airport.
Diagnose and troubleshoot IT problems including Internetwork connectivity issues, system outages, and reported problems using logs and network tools. This includes repair and or replacement of IT hardware and infrastructure.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology.
Experience: Three years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software.
Notes:
1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology may be substituted for the required education.
2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and one additional year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software may be substituted for the required education.
3. Experience operating computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output to process data on computer systems; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for high school education on a year- for-year basis.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Computer Systems Operations classifications or Computer Systems Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants for this position with the Department of Maryland State Police will be subject to a complete criminal background investigation, drug screening and a polygraph examination before permanent employment can be made. A criminal conviction record or positive drug screening may be grounds for rejection of the applicant.
2. Employees in this classification may be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached or they may be furnished a cell phone.
3. Employees are subject to emergency call outs.
4. Employees in this classification must have access to an automobile for use on official business in the event a State vehicle cannot be provided. Standard mileage allowance will be paid for use of a privately owned vehicle.
5. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
