LOCATION OF POSITION

DHMH, Spring Grove Hospital Center, Catonsville, MD

Main Purpose of Job

This position is the management level of nursing directing, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating all nursing services within a 24/7 in-patient psychiatric facility encompassing a patient population of adolescents to geriatric/old age through directly supervising ADONs, and indirectly supervising RN Managers, RN Supervisors, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Charge RNs, Staff RNs, LPNs, DCT/Aides, C/A MHAs, and Patient/Client Drivers. This supervision includes RN Supervisors for patient areas. This position ensures that personnel are competent and knowledgeable to provide nursing care, orientation, education, and related support functions. Responsible for developing nursing care standards, policies and procedures in accordance with stated hospital vision, mission, and values. This position receives managerial supervision from the Chief of Clinical Operations and the Superintendent. This position is Emergency Essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must possess a master's degree in nursing related field from an accredited college or university and five years of psychiatric nursing experience (as a registered nurse) of which at least three years must have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity. Qualified candiates must possess a license as a Registered Nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing. A copy of your current RN license must accompany application.

A bachelor's degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university, together with seven years of psychiatric nursing experience (as a registered nurse) of which at least five years must have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity is also qualifying. A Ph.D. in nursing from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of general experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. A copy of your license, license verification or license number and expiration date must be attached to your application.
