Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide skilled Physical Therapy services and to supervise the work of Physical Therapy Assistants. This position will ensure individualized evaluation and/or treatment for the patients/residents of Western Maryland Hospital Center in the High Intensity Medical Program (HIMP), Brain Injury Unit, and Comprehensive Care Program. This position will function as a positive role model in team building and facilitating carry over of interdisciplinary patient care goals with the purpose of progressing the patient efficiently to their maximum level of independent functioning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners under the licensing requirements for Physical Therapists.

Experience: One year of experience as a Physical Therapist.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Therapy classification or Therapy specialty codes in the Physical Therapy field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Physical Therapist from the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland.***Please be sure to submit a copy of your current licensure with your completed application.***

2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in and, therefore, may be required to provide the employer with a phone number where they can be reached.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
